Hold'em Manager 2 or PokerTracker 4?
Max Value Software distributes perhaps the two most powerful
HUDs and
poker tracking databases on the market:
PokerTracker 4 and
Hold'em Manager 2. Both programs are perfect to help you understand your opponents while multi-tabling and both come with a 30-day free trial to make sure this software is right for you.
Some people prefer
Hold'em Manager 2 since there are many other third-party apps already integrated into the software such as
NoteCaddy Premium,
Table Ninja II,
Leak Buster, and
SitNGo Wizard 2. Some of these apps are also compatible with PokerTracker 4 or are unnecessary since the main functionality might already be included within the software suite.
Many people have posted on the internet that
Hold'em Manager 2 is lighter on memory. While this may or may not be true, it is a matter of what type of system you are running, as personally PokerTracker 4 seems to run slightly smoother on my computer.
PokerTracker 4, in my opinion, is an easier option to get used to if you're first starting to use a HUD. This is a personal preference, as the differences are very subtle.
One thing of note is that if you are using a Mac and want a super powerful HUD, your choice between the two software packages is simple, as PokerTracker 4 is available on the OS-X operating system, while
Hold'em Manager 2 runs on Windows only.
However,
Hold'em Manager also offers a solution for Mac users. You can opt to use HM Cloud Beta and keep your poker tracking database in a virtual cloud. HM Cloud is handy in a number of ways, as all of the calculations are done in the cloud and since your database isn't stored on your hard drive, there is no reason to worry about back-ups. The downside, however, is that there is less flexibility.
We are sorry to say that there really is no right answer to the age-old question of, "Which poker tracking database should I use: PokerTracker 4 or
Hold'em Manager 2?" It really comes down to personal preference.
If you haven't already, give both software suites a try. Remember, with a 30-day free trial, you can test drive both of them to see which works better for you.
